Student Worker Positions
The library has a limited number of student worker positions available each semester. Preference is given to federal work-study students.
Only online applications will be considered. Do not send your resume, apply in-person, or call the library. Please do not contact the library regarding the status of your application. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted directly.
Duties performed by library student workers include:
- Staffing the Circulation Desk, checking out and processing books.
- Providing assistance at the Research Help Office.
- Processing, cataloging, and shelving government documents.
- Scanning and digitizing library materials for special projects.
- Performing data entry, online searching, shelving, and physical processing.

Digital Resources Management Librarian
The Digital Resources Management Librarian implements, maintains, supports, and enhances a wide range of technologies and systems to provide innovative library services and ensure access to the library’s extensive range of online information resources and digital collections.
Head of Reference and Instruction
The Head of Reference and Instruction provides leadership and coordination of the reference and instructional services for the Paul V. Galvin Library. Major responsibilities include leading and coordinating the Information Literacy Instruction Services, teaching library instruction, providing reference and research consultation services, and liaison with assigned departments. This position supervises librarians in the Reference and Instruction Services Department and leads a librarian liaison service which supports the university academic programs. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Engagement.
Head of Discovery, Metadata & Technical Services
The Head of Discovery, Metadata, and Technical Services will collaborate with library colleagues to ensure the discoverability and accessibility of print and digital materials held across the library’s collections and repositories. This position will develop policies for cataloging, processing and other departmental tasks that provide consistency, clarity, and realistic timeframes for departmental staff and collaborators and stakeholders, as well as performing original and copy cataloging using descriptive standards, and utilizing a variety of encoding standards.
