Our goal is to provide distance learners, IIT students who reside outside Illinois but within the continental U.S. during the semester, with services comparable to on campus library users in the areas of:
- borrowing books
- requesting articles
- research assistance
In order to use e-resources from off campus, users must first login. You will be prompted to login when you click on a restricted resource. Enter your MyIIT portal username and password at the login screen.
Need a book? Try searching for it in the IIT Library catalog. If Galvin or one of our branch libraries owns the item, we will ship it to you at no charge. Return shipping costs of materials are the responsibility of the borrower. When requesting a book, please indicate in the Notes field that you are a distance education student.
Because you are responsible for the item until it is safely in our hands, we strongly suggest that items be returned via USPS or UPS with insurance and a tracking number. Replacement fees for items not received by IIT Libraries will be charged to your student account. Please return items to:
Paul V. Galvin Library - IIT

There are three basic ways to access articles:
- use the article finder form when you have information about the article such as title and author
- search for articles using keywords in our databases
- if we don't have access to the article you need, you can request it from another institution using Interlibrary Loan
