The Exploration Space
The Exploration Space is on the lower level of the library, near the group study suites. The Exploration Space currently contains:
- Two Airwolf 3DHD printers. The cost is $.10 per gram, including any necessary supporting structures. Items must be paid for before they can be picked up.
- Two button-making machines, one for 2.25 inch buttons and one for 1 inch buttons (for in-library use only). A kit containing all of the parts needed to make 50 buttons costs $5, and can be ordered through our online store.
- A label making machine. Label tape can be purchased through our online store by the roll or by the inch.
- Two 3D Doodler pens. These can be used without being checked out, but they must not leave the Exploration Space area.
How to Submit a 3D Print
Prints are submitted by filling out the 3D Print Request Form. For multi-part prints, please submit each part separately. Please submit all prints as .zip versions of .stil files. Printing is available in either Black, Natural or White PLA.
You will receive a confirmation email when your print is received. In this email we will provide an estimated completion time for your print.
Print Quality and Size
The Exploration Space uses two Airwolf 3DHD printers. The maximum print size is 30cm x 20cm x 30cm. Prints vary in quality depending on the difficulty of the print. Airwolf 3DHD specifications.
Pricing and Pick Up
Your print is weighed after it is completed and we charge 10 cents per gram. Please pay for your prints at the online store. Once you have paid, you can pick up your print at the Exploration Space during our open hours.
Your print must comply with the Illinois Tech student handbook policies. We also do not accept prints of weapons, or anything that could be considered discriminatory.
