Banned Books Week

The theme for Banned Books Week 2023 is “Let Freedom' Read” and will be observed October 1-7. Banned Books Week is an annual event established in 1982 and is still relevant today as libraries across the United States continue to receive challenges. Many of the challenged books are written by members of the LGBTQIA+ community and people of color. Earlier this year the American Library Association released its top 10 most challenged books of 2022 list. You can find some of these titles in Galvin Library: Gender QueerThe Bluest EyeLooking for Alaska, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
