Access & Usage
Library staff are committed to maintaining a quality study and research environment, protecting the rights of users and sustaining the integrity of collections. In addition to policies and procedures noted below, university-wide policies or civil laws related to facilities or collection vandalism apply.
In order to maximize the availability of study space and materials for members of the Illinois Institute of Technology, Rice Campus community, as well as to ensure that only approved Illinois Institute of Technology, Rice Campus users have access to the facility, the following is the access policy for the Louis W. Biegler Library.
IIT Students, Faculty, and Staff
Illinois Institute of Technology students, faculty, and staff must present a valid Illinois
Institute of Technology or government ID to enter the Louis W. Biegler Library.
Guests of IIT Students, Faculty, and Staff
Guests accompanied by a valid Illinois Institute of Technology ID holder will be admitted
to the library after submitting a valid photo ID, which must be left at the reference desk.
The Illinois Institute of Technology "host" is responsible for the actions of their guests
while inside the library and must be with them for the duration of their visit.
Admissions and Other Tours
An Illinois Institute of Technology tour guide or host must present a valid Illinois Institute
of Technology ID and provide the Louis W. Biegler Library reference desk attendant with the number
of individuals on the tour.
Conferences and Public Events
Members of the public attending conferences and public events will be permitted to use the Louis W.
Biegler Library throughout the duration of the conference or event.
Scholarly Access
Access to scholarly materials for research purposes is at the discretion of the Branch Librarian.
General Public Access
There is no access for members of the general public.
